When I have gone to hair dressers and ask them to give me a Mary Tyler Moore look, I mean something like this:

What the hair dresser is probably thinking is something like this:

But my hair is already that long when I go to them for a cut and style, so they give me a weird look when I explain that I want them to cut it so it’ll always twirl upwards…like Mary Tyler Moore’s hair does. Now either they don’t know how to cut that style, or my hair just won’t let it be cut like that, OR they don’t know who Mary Tyler Moore is, regardless I end up with a hair cut like this:

Now what I should be asking for is THIS picture below here, cause this is what I really need:

The problem is that my hair is thick and I have lots of it. So getting layers is essential and making sure that the end result a few months later won’t look like a Mullet. Sure when you describe what you want to the hair dresser, you say I need it short layers in the front and allow some length in the back, and it should look like this:

Yet all hairdressers just LOVE to make it look like this:
